Those first few days with your newborn can be a blur, filled with overwhelming love and exhaustion. It's easy to forget the little details. So let me help you preserve these precious moments in stunning detail, for you and your family to look back on in awe and love for years to come.
SEND AN INQUIRYI offer newborn sessions from 1 week to 3 months old to give parents flexibility as birth and postpartum looks different for everyone. So the timing is really about what works best for your family.
Babies are typically photographed within the first 2 weeks after birth. My recommendation for those wanting sleepy, swaddled baby photos is a baby between 2-3 weeks. This is the ideal time as they’re extra sleepy, curled up, and more tolerant of gentle posing and swaddling.
Around 4-6 weeks, they’re usually less sleepy and more alert. If you prefer a more relaxed pace or need time to recover, sessions between 1-3 months are a wonderful option. At this stage, I focus on letting babies move naturally, capturing their growing personality and interactions with the family. Think first smiles, eyes wide open, and lots of cooing.

My approach is calm, patient, and baby-led. There’s no rush and no pressure to follow a strict timeline. I build in time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks so the session feels relaxed and supportive. I’ll gently guide you into natural, comfortable positions while also allowing space for candid moments, like interacting with your baby, siblings tickling tiny feet, giving kisses, or dad reading to a toddler while mom holds the newborn. These in-between moments often become some of the most meaningful images.
While my overall process and posing flow stays consistent with each family, I always adjust based on what your baby needs that day. If your baby is awake when I arrive, we may begin with family or group images. If your baby is asleep, I may start with wrapped or solo images first. Throughout the session, I aim to create a wide variety of images, including family portraits, sibling pairings, mom and baby, dad and baby, and solo images of your newborn.

Many of my clients choose to dress their baby in something sentimental, like a monogram sweater or onesie, or a special wrap gifted by family. You’re always welcome to incorporate anything that feels personal to you.
I provide gentle styling guidance to ensure everything feels cohesive and timeless, and you’ll also receive a custom styling guide to make planning feel simple and stress-free.
I also bring a thoughtfully curated collection of newborn pieces from my client closet so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Newborn sessions typically take place in the comfort of your home, allowing me to photograph you and your baby in the spaces that feel most meaningful to your family. This might be a nursery, your bedroom, the living room where you spend your days together, or any space with beautiful natural light that feels like home.
I also offer sessions in my cozy home studio, whichever setting feels best for your family. If you’re unsure which option is the right fit, I’m always happy to help guide you based on your style and vision. From spring through fall, outdoor sessions are also an option, think greenhouse, flower farm, or your backyard/front porch.
As for timing, late morning to early afternoon typically offers the best natural light. I suggest starting sessions around 10 AM - 11 AM or noon, as that’s when the lighting is best in most homes and gives us the most natural, flattering look.

What should we wear for our newborn session?
A.After booking, you’ll receive a detailed style and preparation guide that walks you through what photographs best, outfit combinations, coordination tips for the whole family, and shopping suggestions. The guide is designed to take the guesswork out of styling so you can feel confident going into your session.
What if my home feels too small, messy, or not ideal for photos?
A.Please don’t stress about having a “perfect” home. We don’t need to photograph your entire space. In most cases, we can focus on just one area, such as the nursery, bedroom, or a naturally lit corner of your home.
If we’re using the nursery, a quick tidy of key areas like the crib, nursing chair, or changing table is more than enough. If this still feels overwhelming, you’re always welcome to choose my home studio, which offers a clean, modern, and minimal setting. Seasonal outdoor options are also available, such as a greenhouse in winter or a flower farm in spring and summer.
How do you handle toddlers or siblings having a tough time?
A.Toddlers are toddlers, and I always plan with that in mind. I recommend talking with them a day or two before the session to gently introduce the idea and set realistic expectations based on their temperament.
During the session, I take my time getting to know siblings, building rapport, and letting them warm up at their own pace. We keep things relaxed and pressure-free. Incentives and small bribes like treats or toys can be helpful for some families, but they’re never required. I always follow your lead and your child’s comfort level. Some of the sweetest moments come from brief interactions rather than perfectly posed smiles.
Do you pose newborns in specific positions?
A.My approach is lifestyle-based and centered on comfort and safety. I don’t use complex or risky studio poses, such as frog poses or heavily styled positioning. Instead, babies are gently swaddled, snuggled, or placed naturally in baskets or on blankets. Everything is kept soft, organic, and baby-led, with safety always coming first.
What happens if my baby won’t settle?
A.Babies have their own rhythms, and that’s always respected during your session. We’ll take breaks as needed, and I’ll gently try different approaches to see what feels most comfortable for your baby.
If it’s a particularly fussy day, we’ll focus on keeping your baby close, often photographing them in your arms to reduce stress and crying. Managing expectations is important here. While I do everything I can to create a beautiful gallery, I can’t guarantee specific poses or expressions. Sessions are not refunded or rescheduled once completed.
How do you handle hygiene, washing, and safety precautions?
A.All wraps, blankets, outfits, and props are carefully maintained, washed with gentle, fragrance-free detergent, and sanitized or steam cleaned between sessions.
For families who prefer additional precautions, I am happy to wear a mask and gloves while handling your newborn, especially for babies under six weeks old.
Some families choose this, while others do not. I bring these items with me to every session and leave the decision entirely up to you. Your baby’s comfort, safety, and health are always my priority.
Do you photograph breastfeeding moments, and will those images be shared online?
A.I love celebrating breastfeeding mothers and documenting this special bond. Many families choose to keep these images private, and I fully respect that.
All sessions and contracts include a social media privacy clause, and sharing is always optional. Whether you choose to allow image use or keep your gallery completely private, your decision is always honored, no questions asked.
Can grandparents be included?
A.Yes, absolutely. I love capturing grandparents and generational portraits that become meaningful family heirlooms. Because including additional family members requires more time to photograph everyone comfortably and without rushing, grandparent participation is available with my largest newborn package.
Rescheduling Policy
A.Postpartum recovery can be unpredictable, and I completely understand if you need to adjust your session date. That’s why I recommend booking newborn sessions after the first two weeks, so you have time to settle in at home and recover, especially if you’ve had a C-section.
If you need more time, we can move your session to the next available date at no additional cost. Additional reschedules after that incur a $25 fee to help account for calendar changes, while still keeping availability fair for other families.
What kind of editing do you do?
A.I keep editing natural and true to your baby. All images receive light retouching, including color, exposure, and gentle skin smoothing for things like minor baby acne or redness, while preserving natural skin texture. I don’t alter body shape or change natural features.
If your baby is experiencing more noticeable baby acne, I often recommend waiting until after 4 weeks, when it typically begins to clear on its own. If waiting isn’t an option and heavier retouching is requested, an additional $200 retouching fee applies and gallery delivery is extended by one week.
How long until we receive our gallery?
A.For full newborn sessions, gallery delivery is typically within 2-3 weeks. During busy seasons, especially fall and winter, turnaround may be closer to 3-4 weeks. I always stay in communication and will notify you if there are any updates or delays.
Do you offer shorter or mini newborn sessions?
A.Newborn sessions are designed to move at a calm, unhurried pace. Babies often need time for feeding, diaper changes, and resettling, and I intentionally allow space for that.
For this reason, I do not offer mini sessions or very short newborn sessions. My smallest newborn package is one hour and is structured to ensure your baby’s needs are always prioritized without feeling rushed.
